According to the latest rumors , Ferrari could offer a twin-turbo V8 for the next generation of California scheduled to land in 2015.
This is not the first time that such indiscretions around the Prancing Horse model surfaced on the web. Indeed, already at the beginning of the year and more specifically in the month of January, several information announced the return of a turbocharged engine within the range of the Italian manufacturer.
Today, it is our colleagues who say that Motor Trend Transalpine firm intend to propose a bi -turbo V8 block for the next generation of California . According to them, this engine is the same as that proposed in the Maserati Quattroporte .
If this information is accurate , the Italian coupé cabriolet could therefore benefit from an engine offering a power of 530 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque. This engine is not unknown to the Prancing Horse as it was developed by Ferrari and is built in Maranello . In addition to the Maserati Quattroporte , this block is called to be available for other Fiat Group vehicles and very probably for the next California .
Although the V8 is fitted with two turbos , it develops more power than the current atmospheric V8 4,3 l which equips the entry level model of the transalpine firm , the latter claiming a power of 490 horses.
For the rest , the next generation of California should benefit from use of new materials to make lighter than the current model car.
According to the latest rumors, the new California could be presented at the next Geneva Motor Show and its commercialization could begin in late 2014 early 2015 .
